Chilliwack:  One person was taken into custody and later released by RCMP following the execution of a Controlled Drugs and Substance Act Warrant of a local house.

The warrant stemmed from calls received by the RCMP to report the unusual amount of traffic near a residence in the 8400-block of Unity Drive.  During the police investigation, plain clothes officers of the Chilliwack RCMP Crime Reduction Unit (CRU), covertly gathered evidence leading up to the search.

On January 11^th CRU investigators supported by the Chilliwack RCMP Priority Offender Suppression Team (POST) executed a Controlled Drug and Substance Act (CDSA) search warrant of the dwelling.

Drugs believed by police to be heroin, marihuana, and lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) along with cash, drug trafficking paraphernalia, a conducted energy weapon, and a vehicle were seized by police as a result of the search.

“Alert citizens reporting strange happenings in their neighbourhood to the RCMP, played a large role in the police investigation and the prevention of drugs from reaching the streets of our community,” says Corporal Mike Rail spokesperson for the UFVRD.

Tips on how to spot a drug dealer in the neighbourhood;

• Constant day and night foot / vehicle traffic to and from a house or property.
• Traffic arrives and leaves at odd times.
• Loitering in or around a house or property.
