DairyThe province is taking steps to make sure cows at dairy farms are treated properly.
Yesterday Agriculture Minister Norm Letnick announced the BC government is adopting the National Dairy Code of Practice.
It’s a set of standards on areas like animal handling and husbandry, health and welfare, and housing aimed at ensuring the cows are handled with care and respect.
Care of dairy cattle became an issue last June when a video was released showing employees of Chilliwack Cattle Sales allegedly beating some cows.
Charges have not yet been laid as Crown continues to investigate.
