Chilliwack Fire Crews Attend Barn Structure Fire

On July 27th at around 10:45am the Chilliwack Fire Department was dispatched to a reported barn fire in the 49000 block of Castleman Rd.

Approximately 45 Firefighters responded from Halls 1,2, 3, 4 and 6 and upon arriving on scene, observed heavy, black smoke and flames coming from a large poultry barn. Crews quickly secured a water supply from a nearby hydrant and deployed multiple hose streams to combat the fire. Despite being challenged by high ambient air temperatures and a quickly-spreading fire, crews were successfully able to prevent the spread of the fire to adjacent barns.

This fire is currently under investigation by Chilliwack Fire Officials.

There were no civilian or firefighter injuries reported, however several chickens were reported to have perished in the fire.
