On April 14th at around 5:00pm the Chilliwack Fire Department was dispatched to a reported fire in an industrial building in the 43000 block of Industrial Way.

Over 35 Firefighters responded from Halls 1, 3, 4 and 6 and upon arriving on scene, observed heavy, black smoke and flame coming from a large, multi-unit industrial building. Crews quickly established defensive fire suppression tactics due to the challenges of extreme heat and zero visibility from the heavy smoke conditions present. An aerial ladder truck was deployed to the roof of the building to extinguish a small fire on the roof and to serve as a vantage point to monitor the fire for extension into adjacent units.

Fire crews were successful in containing the fire to the unit of origin, with the adjacent units suffering some smoke damage. Approximately 25 people work in the adjacent units and they are expected to be back at work sometime today.

This fire is currently under investigation by Chilliwack Fire Officials.

There were no civilian or firefighter injuries reported.
