On October 11th at approximately 2:25 am, the Chilliwack Fire Department was alerted to a report of a structure fire in the 45000 block of Ruger Place. Fire crews from Halls 1, 3, 4 and 6 responded to the scene and upon arrival discovered heavy smoke and flames showing from the roof of a single storey detached workshop. Crews established a water supply and quickly brought the fire under control utilizing a defensive attack. Through their swift actions, fire crews also prevented the fire from spreading to nearby structures. The workshop did suffer extensive fire and smoke damage.

There were no firefighter or civilian injuries reported at this fire and the occupants of the home were able to safely exit.

The cause of this fire is currently under investigation by Chilliwack Fire Officials.
