Chilliwack: RCMP frontline officers quickly turned from peace keepers to investigators when police suspected firearms were inside a rental home.

On the morning of March 20, 2019 Chilliwack RCMP responded to a call from a landlord for police to be present and keep the peace during a visit to rental home in the 46000-block of Arbutus Avenue.  The dwelling was quickly cordoned off by #frontline officers when a handgun was noted inside the residence.

That evening general duty frontline officers executed a search warrant at the residence.  Four replica handguns, ammunition, cell phones, cannabis, and property police believe to be linked to retail thefts were seized by police during the search.

RCMP continue to gather evidence as officers pursue their investigation into the property seized during the execution of the search warrant.

“Expecting the unexpected then shifting gears to meet that challenge is a way of life for RCMP general duty officers who are dedicated to the safety of our community,” says Corporal Mike Rail spokesperson for the UFVRD.

RCMP remind everyone who witnesses anything they believe to be suspicious in nature to contact the Chilliwack RCMP at 604-792-4611 or, should you wish to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
