At approximately 11:00am on November 30 the Chilliwack Fire Department was dispatched to a reported house fire located in the 46000 block of First Avenue.

Firefighters responded from Halls 1 and 4 and on arrival, reported heavy smoke and flames venting from multiple areas of the structure. The building was vacant at the time of the fire.

Initial arriving crews quickly began a defensive fire attack while securing a water supply to bring the fire under control. Location of the fire and structural damage to the building hampered
firefighting efforts. An excavator was brought in to assist in safely accessing and extinguishing the fire.

There were no civilian or firefighter injures.

This fire is under investigation by the Chilliwack Fire Department and RCMP.
