The Chilliwack RCMP has seen an increase in traffic incidents and motor vehicle collisions over the last month and are reminding motorists to do their part to keep roads safe for everyone this holiday season.

With the holidays soon approaching, says Cpl. Carmen Kiener, special gatherings and busy shopping days are upon us. This coupled with the changing weather conditions, we want to remind the public, whether you are a pedestrian, cyclist, motorist, or other type of road user, to consider the following tips for increased road safety:

  • Make adequate time to arrive at your destination
  • Plan your route
  • Identify a designated driver
  • Leave your phone alone
  • Drive for the current road conditions
  • Utilize winter tires on your vehicle
  • Have an emergency kit in your car for extended travel

The Chilliwack RCMP continue to make efforts to enhance road safety throughout the community. Says Cpl. Mike Sabulsky of Chilliwack RCMP Traffic Services. Increased patrols, high visibility check stops, and targeted enforcement in high collision areas will be our top priority during the holiday season.
