Chilliwack:  An early morning foot chase between a break and enter suspect and a Chilliwack RCMP officer ended with the arrest of a local man.

Just after 2 a.m. on April 18, 2018 Chilliwack RCMP received a report that a prowler was inside a fenced compound in the 44000-block of Progress Way.  General Duty (GD) officers supported by the Lower Mainland District Integrated Police Dog Section (IPDS) immediately arrived at the scene where an alert GD officer observed an individual leaving the property through a hole in the security fence.

Once discovered, the suspect sprinted away from police, only to be quickly caught and taken into custody by the officer.   Evidence linking the suspect to theft from the compound was seized by police during the arrest.

“The immediate response of police resources and a fleet-footed GD officer played a significant role in the arrest of the suspect,” says Corporal Mike Rail spokesperson for the UFVRD.

David Stephen Wilgosh, 44, has been charged with break and enter and commit theft under $5000, mischief under $5000, and possession of break-in instruments. Mr. Wilgosh remains in custody pending a court date in late April.
