Hope:  A local man was arrested after allegedly being caught in the act by an RCMP officer.

The arrest stemmed from a call received by the Hope RCMP on January 25th around 6:15 am to report suspicious behaviour of a man outside of a business in the 65000-block of Kawkawa Lake Road.  An individual located inside of the business by the RCMP was taken into custody. Evidence linking the person to theft was seized by police during the arrest.

Kevin Larry Pete, 30, of Hope faces a charge of break and enter with intent.  Mr. Pete remains in custody pending a court date in mid-February.

“An alert citizen immediately reporting unusual activity and the timely response of police are responsible for the apprehension of the suspect,” says Corporal Mike Rail spokesperson for the UFVRD.

RCMP remind everyone who witnesses anything they believe to be suspicious in nature to contact the Hope RCMP at 604-869-7750 or, should you wish to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
