JasonLum-Press-2014ARepresentatives from municipal governments from the Sea to Sky, Metro Vancouver, and the Fraser Valley will debate a number of resultions today at the Lower Mainland Local Government Association conference, in beautiful Harrison Hot Springs.
Chilliwack Councilor Jason Lum says one of them deals with asking the province to lift the funding freeze for BC Transit.

“It puts some of our expansion planning here at risk. We’ve had a lot of very good momentum on public transit, and without some continued investment from our partners at BC Transit, we won’t be able to make those continued improvements that are required.”

If passed the resolution will be brought to the Union of BC Municipalities conference.

Lum is also presenting an update on flood and river management today at the conference.  He says the next phase of the study will look at how much it would cost from each level of government to create a regional flood mitigation strategy.
