What is Tidal?

So what is Tidal? Tidal is a music streaming app. It was purchased back in February by Jay-Z for a mere $56 million. It launched today with the support of some very big artists:

Now Tidal isn’t just music streaming like Spotify, they’re also claiming to have the highest quality of audio for your ears and listening pleasure. However it will cost you, at monthly charging rates of $9.99 a month or $19.99 a month. You’ll recall Taylor Swift famously had her music withdrawn from Spotify – well you can now find her stuff on Tidal because they plan on having more revenue for their artists.
