RCMP2Chilliwack RCMP have confirmed that there were three armed robberies over the weekend, but aren’t commenting beyond that at this point.

The businesses hit include the Subway restaurant on Williams, Gingko restaurant on Young road, and the downtown Jim’s Pizza.

Acting on concern from staff following the robbery, Jim’s Pizza will be cutting back hours at the downtown location, closing at 10 PM Sunday through Wednesday and Midnight Thursday to Saturday.

Owner Heather Currie says they are bringing in other security measures as well.

“The driver is now going to be working completely out of the front so we are going to be locking the back doors so that there’s no access out of the back. And then we’ve also told the cooks after 9 o’clock to lock the front door and to only let someone in when you see the individual without a mask.”

Currie says this is their first robbery in seven years and feels crime may be getting worse in the downtow.

However she says she credits the RCMP with a quick response once staff called 911.
