CSSSince it opened, Chilliwack Senior Secondary has been looking for an “identity program”, a field of study it could focus on, and it seems they’ve found it.

Teacher Joe Ogmundson says this fall they’re running the first cohort of an applied psychology program, a program that will progress each year of high school.

“First year is a lot of just learning about how we learn. The second year is about learning about how to take that learning and provide a service to others. And the third year would be much more work experience oriented, actual practicum service in our community.”

Ogmundson says the classes will be targeted towards students interested in a career in helping people, whether that be in social work, childhood education, or even policing and criminology.
